6-State Trooper Project enforcement effort a success

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol joined forces with members of the 6-State Trooper Project for a high-visibility enforcement effort focused on distracted driving from July 20 – 26. The multi-state initiative included members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and the West Virginia State Police.

During the effort, officers in all six states issued nearly 2,000 citations related to distracted driving.

“Multi-state partnerships like this one illustrate the true value of working together to make each respective state a safer place to live, work and travel,” said Colonel Paul A. Pride. “But we still have work to do – there are far too many people losing their lives on our roadways.”

This multi-state law enforcement partnership is aimed at providing combined and coordinated law enforcement and security services in the areas of highway safety, criminal patrol and intelligence sharing.
