Photographic Services Unit

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Photographic Services Unit (Photo Lab) is responsible for providing all of the photographic and digital imaging services for the Ohio Department of Public Safety. At the center of the Photo Lab’s many responsibilities is the processing and printing of traffic crash film from crashes investigated by troopers statewide. Annually, over 79,000 rolls of film are processed and nearly 24,000 requests for photos are honored.

The Photo Lab’s photographers are responsible for documenting crime scenes, disturbances on state property or in state institutions, recording events of historical significance, ceremonial events and Department sponsored conferences and seminars. Other duties include producing photos for in-house publications, press releases, presentations, displays, information packets and Web pages.
