Weekend Criminal Patrol effort in Licking County highly successful
GRANVILLE – Drivers who passed through Licking County this past weekend probably noticed an increase in Ohio State Highway Patrol cruisers along the roadway. That’s because Criminal Patrol Units with the Patrol conducted a high-visibility criminal patrol tactical squad throughout the county from July 19 – 22 in an effort to remove criminal activity from the roadways.
Troopers focused their attention on Interstate 70 and State Routes 40, 79 and 37 throughout effort, which proved to be highly successful, resulting in 361 traffic stops, 45 motorist assists and 171 warnings.
In addition, through effective traffic enforcement and looking beyond the traffic stop, troopers made 40 felony drug arrests and 67 misdemeanor drug arrests. These arrests include the seizure of marijuana, cocaine, illegal prescription medications, hashish, psilocybin mushrooms, acid and drug paraphernalia.
As always, motorists are encouraged to call #677 to report drug activity or impaired drivers.
