Patrol seeks public's help in locating hit/skip driver that
injured Marion teen

BUCYRUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a red Dodge Ram pick-up truck that is suspected in a hit-and-skip incident on January 26, 2007, in Marion County that seriously injured a Marion teen.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a 1997-2004 red Dodge Ram pick-up truck with large tires and/or a raised body with vertical exhaust pipes, called “semi stacks,” in the bed of the truck. The vehicle could have damage to the right front and may have yellow Ohio DUI license plates.

The suspect vehicle struck Jacob Johnson, 14, of Marion from behind as he was walking westbound along Barks Road east of Delaware Avenue. After striking the boy, the driver fled the scene.

The victim was taken by squad to Marion General Hospital and then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

Anyone with any information about this incident or knows the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle should call the Patrol’s Marion Post at (740) 383-2181. Below are photos of what the vehicle may look like, as well as an example of a yellow Ohio DUI license plate. Visit www.statepatrol.ohio.gov for downloadable photos.
