OLMSTEAD TOWNSHIP - The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Milan Post is investigating a double-fatality crash that occurred eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike near milepost 153 this morning at approximately 5:28 a.m.
The driver, operating a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, swerved off the right side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, overturned and continued across the roadway, striking a concrete barrier on the left side of the roadway.
The driver and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other passengers; Patrick Lias, Michael Beach and Adam Camilleri, were transported to Cleveland Metro Hospital by the North Ridgeville Fire Department. All occupants in the vehicle were wearing their safety belts.
The driver of the vehicle resided in Carmichael, Calif. and the other occupants resided in Australia. California authorities and the Australian Embassy are assisting with next of kin notification.
The names of the deceased will be released once next of kin notification has been made.
