CHILLICOTHE – A Chillicothe Correctional Institution officer was indicted
by a Ross County Grand Jury after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrested
her last Friday for attempting to convey drugs into the Chillicothe Correctional
Institution.
Troopers charged Patricia Smith, 51, of Lucasville, with attempting to convey drugs, a third-degree felony; for aggravated trafficking, a fourth degree felony: and for trafficking, a fifth degree felony. Additional charges are pending.
Troopers obtained information that Smith was working to convey drugs to an inmate at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution. Smith was arrested at 7:20 p.m. last Friday.
Smith was incarcerated in the Ross County Jail. If convicted, she could face up to seven-and-a-half-years in prison and a $17,500 fine.
