Escaped Inmate Vincent Roberts
Apprehended in Columbus

COLUMBUS– Vincent Roberts, 37 year old male who was a patient at the Heartland Behavioral Health Facility, in Massillon, Ohio, was apprehended today by Columbus Police Officers after they received a tip.

Patrol personnel were contacted by the Columbus Police Department after receiving a call from a citizen who recognized Roberts from recent media coverage. The citizen spotted him at the Pilot gas station at Interstate 70 and Wilson Rd. He was taken into custody without incident at approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.

On Friday, investigators said Vincent Roberts was reportedly seen running from the Heartland Behavioral Health Facility at 4:50 p.m. He was a patient at the mental health facility after being found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2004 on one count attempted murder, one count of felonious assault and two counts of aggravated burglary.

Following his arrest today, Roberts was transported to the Franklin County jail for processing.
