Sergeant Payer to serve as Patrol spokesperson

COLUMBUS – Sgt. Jon T. Payer, of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marysville Post, has transferred to the Public Affairs Unit as part of a 90-day program, in which he will temporarily serve as a spokesperson for the Patrol.

Sgt. Payer entered the Academy in February 1994 as a member of the 126th Class. He received his commission that July and was assigned to the Marysville Post, where he received Post Trooper of the Year honors in 1997 and 1998. Sgt. Payer received Certificates of Recognition in 1996 and 1997, for life-saving efforts. Sgt. Payer also served as a trooper at the Dayton and Piqua Posts.

In April 2002, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to his current post at Marysville.

A native of Hamilton, Sgt. Payer graduated from Stephen T. Badin High School in 1988. He lives in Logan County with his wife and two children.
