ORIENT – A Kentucky woman appeared in the Circleville Municipal Court yesterday after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrested her Monday for conveying illegal drugs onto the grounds of the Pickaway Correctional Institution.
Troopers charged Amanda L. Fessel, 19, of Union, Ky. with illegal conveyance onto the grounds of a correctional facility, a third-degree felony.
Troopers and Department of Rehabilitation and Correction investigators obtained information that Fessel planned to convey illegal drugs into the Pickaway Correctional Institution. She was arrested at 2:50 p.m. Monday after troopers discovered 15 balloons containing approximately 28 grams of marijuana on her person.
Fessel was incarcerated at the Circleville Police Department. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates criminal activity on state owned and/or leased property.
