Kenton woman arrested for ODOT gas theft

FINDLAY – Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators arrested a Kenton woman for stealing gasoline from a local Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) facility.

Cristy L. Mullins, 20, was charged with theft and driving without a valid driver license, both first-degree misdemeanors.

Patrol investigators monitored Mullins’ activities beginning in May 2003 after gasoline was found missing from the Kenton ODOT facility pumps. Surveillance revealed that she had been stealing gasoline, a total of 260 gallons valued in excess of $300, to fill her personal vehicle’s gas tank.

Mullins was employed by an independent cleaning company, under contract to clean the ODOT facility. The contract is currently under review by ODOT. She drove to the facility without a valid driver license.

Mullins was incarcerated at the Hardin County Jail. If convicted, she could face up to one year in jail, and up to a $2,000 fine.
