Ohio Turnpike shooting unrelated to I-270 area shootings
MILAN – Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators are confident that last night's Ohio Turnpike shooting is not related to the recent shootings in the Columbus area. The Ohio Turnpike shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

Patrol investigators are asking anyone with information on last night's Ohio Turnpike shooting to contact the Milan Patrol Post at (419) 499-4808.

Yesterday evening, Stephen D. McMullen, 29, of East Cleveland, and Darryle E. Webster, 20, of Detroit, were shot while traveling westbound on the Ohio Turnpike at milepost 122 in Berlin Township, Erie County. McMullen was shot in the head and Webster was shot in the left hand.

At 7:16 p.m. yesterday, the Patrol’s Berea District Headquarters received a 911 call from Webster, who notified troopers of the shooting. Webster was a passenger in the 1995 Chevrolet Lumina driven by McMullen.

Webster advised that two westbound vehicles might have been involved in the shooting. One of the vehicles was a white Cadillac. The other had an Oregon license plate. Troopers provided the vehicle information to area law enforcement agencies.

Shortly after receiving the vehicle information, Wakeman Police Officers stopped a vehicle with an Oregon license plate. The driver, Kenneth R. Fleetwood, 26, of Cleveland, was questioned by Patrol investigators and is being held at the Erie County Jail on an unrelated charge for driving under suspension.

McMullen was taken to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. Webster was treated and released from the Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital in Norwalk.

The investigation is ongoing. No charges related to the shooting have been filed.
