West Virginia woman arrested for illegal drug conveyance
MANSFIELD – The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested a Weirton, W. Va. woman yesterday for attempting to convey illegal narcotics into the Richland Correctional Institution.

Troopers charged Diana L. Compton, 39, with illegal conveyance onto the grounds of a correctional facility, a third-degree felony.

Troopers and Department of Rehabilitation and Correction investigators obtained information that Compton planned to convey illegal drugs into the Richland Correctional Institution. Troopers arrested Compton at 12:30 p.m. yesterday after discovering one pill of Hydrocodone on her person.

Compton was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in the Mansfield Municipal Court today. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates criminal activity on state owned and leased property.
