Patrol reports decrease in Labor Day fatalities

COLUMBUS -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported today that Ohio experienced its safest Labor Day weekend in the past few years, with 11 fatalities in 11 fatal crashes on the state’s roadways. By comparison, 22 people were killed on Ohio roads during the 2002 Labor Day weekend.

The Patrol credited the motoring public with helping to create safer highways, particularly during what is traditionally a deadly holiday weekend.

The following Ohio traffic fatalities are for the holiday weekend of August 29 – September 1, 2003.
