Richland Correctional employee arrested
for bribery and illegal conveyance

MANSFIELD – The Ohio State Highway Patrol arrested a Corrections Officer today for accepting a bribe and attempting to convey alcohol into the Richland Correctional Institution. Troopers charged Steven P. Wallace, 34, of Mansfield, with bribery, a third-degree felony, and conveying alcohol onto the grounds of a correctional facility, a first-degree misdemeanor.

Troopers and Department of Rehabilitation and Correction investigators obtained information that Wallace planned to convey alcohol into the Richland Correctional Institution. Wallace was arrested at 11:30 a.m. today after troopers found he had a fifth of alcohol and $100 cash in his possession.

Wallace was incarcerated at the Richland County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in the Mansfield Municipal Court at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. If convicted, he could face up to five years and six months in prison and an $11,000 fine.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates criminal activity on state-owned and leased property.
